Rahima, 18 years old, polio victim (Incapable to move her lower limbs) living with her older sister in Karukh district of Herat province. She was a little baby when lost her father. At the age of six, her mother re-married and her uncle became Rahima and her sister’s guardian. A workshop was held in Laghman province, by AABRAR, titled International Convention on Disability Rights. As the workshop approached its end, one participant was convinced that his disabled son deserves the same attention and caring, as his other children.

Karima’s husband – Qurban Ali is a gambler well known in the area. When Qurban lost all the family assets he bet on Shahla – his 13-year-old daughter. He lost her to Qand Agha took Shahla to his home. Shahla’s mother was in despair. She did not know what to do until she heard about the Peace Council that Afghan Development Association (ADA) has set up in the district.

An agreement between Tawanmandi and the Organization for Charity and Social Development in Afghanistan (OCSDA) has been terminated.

Following the results of an independent external audit completed in December 2013 that raised issues that were not satisfactorily resolved. OCSDA had previously been awarded a grant for a rule of law project in Nangarhar Province.
